100+ years of serving Toledo and more

Continental Secret Service Bureau, Inc., located at 419 N. Huron Street in downtown Toledo, has proudly entered its second century of service in 2020.

Continental Secret Service Bureau is a family-owned private security company that currently employs 400 trained security guards for small and large companies in Toledo, as well as parts of Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky, West Virginia, and Indiana.

Continental Secret Service Bureau was founded by Harley Harris in April 1919. The company’s first client, Tiedtke’s Department Store, required guard services to help prevent employees from pilfering company assets. The company has helped capture some of Toledo’s most notorious criminals, and has survived depression, recessions, and war.

The firm was sold to Joseph Ackerman in 1939, and then sold to the late Wayne Wunder in 1965. The company has been family-owned ever since, passed on to son Phillip Wunder, and then to grandson and current President/CEO, Scott Wunder.

Security procedures have come a long way, and Continental Secret Service Bureau has evolved alongside their clients’ ever-changing needs. For example, Continental Secret Service Bureau developed its own 24-hour dispatch communication system, which addresses issues immediately with a goal of 100% customer satisfaction. In fact, satisfaction is so embraced by the company, they offer a service guarantee. The company also designs a tailor-made security service plan for each one of its clients.

“Continental Secret Service Bureau takes genuine pride that it was and still is a pioneer when it comes to total security protection,” Scott Wunder said. “Quality service, the highest integrity and professionalism are the mark of Continental’s dedicated service to the companies it serves.”
